The Grand Tour ist ein Forschungs- und Performanceprojekt, das die Grand Tour des 18. Jahrhunderts untersucht und kritisch auf den imperialistischen Impuls und das koloniale Erbe blickt, das der vermeintlich malerischen Ansicht der Landschaftsdurchquerung innewohnt. Die performative Kutschenreisen auf den Straßen von Düsseldorf wird von einer recherchebasierten Ausstellung und Gesprächsreihen zur Dekolonisierung des öffentlichen Raums im Künstlerverein Malkasten begleitet.
Rebecca J. Squires (lebt in Belgien) ist Künstlerin, Wissenschaftlerin und Kuratorin an der LUCA School of Arts, KU Leuven in Brüssel und erforscht die Landschaftsüberquerung des 18. Jahrhunderts. Squires‘ performatives Workshop-Projekt fand zuletzt im Rahmen von Traversing Topologies in Andermatt statt.

The Grand Tour
The Grand Tour is a research and performance project that examines the Grand Tour of the 18th century and looks critically at the imperialist impulse and the colonial legacy inherent in the supposedly picturesque view of the view of the landscape crossing. The performative carriage journeys on the streets of Düsseldorf is accompanied by a research-based exhibition and a series of talks on the decolonisation of public space at the Malkasten artists’ association.
Rebecca J. Squires (lives in Belgium) is an artist, researcher and curator at the LUCA School of Arts, KU Leuven in Brussels and researches the crossing of landscapes
of the 18th century. Squires’ performative workshop project most recently took place as part of of Traversing Topologies in Andermatt.
