In der ortsbezogenen Arbeit Membran verbindet sich das Fotografische mit dem urbanen Raum. In Form von Installationen und transparenten Bildmotiven, die über den Düsseldorfer Stadtraum verteilt sind, agieren die Werke von Alwin Lay mit ihrem architektonischen und sozialen Umfeld, darunter öffentliche Institutionen, Ladengeschäfte, Kioske, U-Bahnhöfe und andere Transit-Orte. Die Bilder von vertrauten Gegenständen in irritierenden, weil allzu menschlichen Situationen, greifen durch ihre Durchlässigkeit in den städtischen Alltag ein, verfremden oder kommentieren ihn.
Alwin Lay (*1984 in Lugosch, Rumänien, lebt in Köln) arbeitet mit und über das Medium Fotografie mit einem Interesse an der Erweiterung in Ausstellungs- und Buchformate.
Seine Arbeiten waren zuletzt in Einzelausstellungen u.a. bei Le Bureau in Düsseldorf und im Museum für Photographie Braunschweig (Kat.) zu sehen.
